Hello, everyone (yeah, right, like there is someone reading this…)! I had other blogs in the past and I never really know what to write in a first post. So, I am going to do what everybody does: introduce myself, talk about why I created this blog, and things like that.
Well, my name is Rafael Ferreira and I am a first-year economics graduate student in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I love economics, but I also love learning new languages. Portuguese is my native language but, as you can see, I can also communicate in english fairly well. I have also studied french for a few years, some time ago, but since I do not practice it very much, I’ve started to forget some of the things I’ve learned.
That’s the reason why I created this blog, and I hope to have the time to keep it updated. I wanted to force myself to practice my skills in foreign languages. So this will be, at first, a bilingual blog. I will try to post most of the things in english and portuguese. Gradually, I hope to make this a trilingual blog, as I recover some of the writing fluency I once had in french.
If I would ever be so lucky to have readers some day, I hope they can help me by correcting the frequent mistakes that I am sure I will make. That’s why I left the comments section active: because I know the mistakes of this ignorant foreigner will be numerous.

Olá, pessoal (até parece que tem alguém lendo esse texto…)! Eu já tive outros blogs antes, mas eu nunca sei o que escrever em um primeiro post. Então vou fazer o que todo mundo faz: falar sobre mim, sobre os motivos por que eu criei este blog, etc.
Bom, meu nome é Rafael Ferreira, e estou no primeiro ano do mestrado em economia, no Rio de Janeiro. Eu adoro economia, mas também gosto muito de aprender novas línguas. Além de português, eu também consigo me comunicar razoavelmente bem em inglês e estudei francês por alguns anos, há algum tempo. No entanto, como não pratico muito, comecei a esquecer boa parte do francês que tinha aprendido.
É por isso que eu criei este blog, e espero ter tempo para mantê-lo atualizado. Eu queria me obrigar a aprimorar meus conhecimentos em línguas estrangeiras. Por isso, a princípio, este será um blog bilíngue. Vou tentar postar tudo em inglês e português. Gradualmente, à medida que for readquirindo parte da fluência escrita em francês que já tive um dia, espero ir tornando o blog trilíngue.
Se eu tiver sorte de um dia conseguir alguns leitores, espero que possam ajudar-me corrigindo os erros freqüentes que eu sei que cometerei. Por isso eu deixarei a seção de comentários ativada: porque sei que os erros que este estrangeiro ignorante cometerá serão numerosos.
